Germany and England get Strong Bad for free 21 March 2010 at 8:00 pm by bestcar

Germany and England get Strong Bad for free screenshot

German and British people, it’s time for free stuff! The fine fellows at Telltale Games are giving away free episodes of Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People in both of your respective countries. Residents of either country who own a Wii simply have to fill out a survey and they get the game.

The survey is all about fun things like videogames and other forms of entertainment so it’s super easy to take. The running time is about ten minutes, but I bet you can finish it faster. I’ve got faith in your ability to speed read.

Once you’ve defeated the survey and its remains lay before you, you will receive the second chapter of the Strong Bad games, titled “Strong Badia the Free.” They’ll send it to you over the internet, so make sure you have your friend code at the ready.

+ GameStop says Wii and PS3 shortages for a few more months By unitazovolos 21 March 2010 at 4:00 am and have No Comments

GameStop says Wii and PS3 shortages for a few more months screenshot

If you’ve been to your local videogame retailer to procure a PS3 or Wii you may have noticed that you could not procure the item at all because it wasn’t there. Both systems have been having shortages since December, when, according to the VP of merchandising at GameStop, Tony Bartel, the two sold much faster and better than anyone expected them to. He also says that these shortages won’t be stopping any time soon, and may last into summer.

“Obviously it’s a question we ask the platform holders constantly,” he noted when the shortages were brought up during an investor call. “I can tell you that we do anticipate we will be in this situation, at least with the PlayStation 3, for another couple months unfortunately because we could sell a lot more hardware than what we have on both the PS3 and Wii platform.”

He went on to explain that the only reason he’s been given for the shortages was the strong December sales, and that he believes the Wii’s shortages will stop before the PS3’s.

It seems that Sony’s and Nintendo’s price drops last year really did the trick. The question is why weren’t the two companies ready for the extra demand.

+ World of LordCraft: NEVER SURRENDER YOU FREEDOM! By admin 20 March 2010 at 6:00 pm and have No Comments

World of LordCraft: NEVER SURRENDER YOU FREEDOM! screenshot

I’m not sure if I should seriously describe what World of LordCraft is or just cue up the laugh track and let it roll on for a solid ten minutes. If you haven’t guessed from the lawsuit worthy name, the trailer above for the upcoming MMO castle building game (I think that is what it is) is pretty much the biggest rip off of World of Warcraft ever made. They really don’t seem to have changed anything. From the art style to the story (the Horde battling the Alliance) GSprite, the game’s developer, has simply taken WoW and made it cheaper.

The money making scam game is about to go into beta the official site says, and you can log in and play now if you wish. One can only assume that we will be staring at mostly naked women advertising this game in the months to come, and then reporting on a lawsuit from Activision soon after that.

I choose not to speculate on the future and instead make fun of the trailer, which contains one of the best typos since “All your base are belong to us.” Sure, “Never surrender you freedom” is a much easier mistake to make when typing, but the fact that they missed that they left off the “r” is just as priceless even if their native language isn’t English. Also, the narrator is clearly just some guy they picked up off the street and asked to speak in a really low voice.

Greatest videogame trailer ever or greatest videogame trailer ever?

+ Really? Sega celebrates 32X’s 15th anniversary with music By FredJ 20 March 2010 at 5:00 am and have No Comments

Really? Sega celebrates 32X's 15th anniversary with music screenshot

This is seriously a thing that is happening. Rather than pretend it never existed, Sega will be celebrating the ill-fated and universally terrible 32X when its fifteenth anniversary hits this year. The one-time threat to Nintendo’s dominance will be releasing a soundtrack set, harking back to the 32X’s many victories.

Releasing March 31, this three-disc box will contain 128 tracks, all recorded directly from the hardware. Space Harrier, Stellar Assault, Virtua Racing Deluxe, Parasquad, Metal Head and Virtua Fighter are just some of the games that will be tickling your ears with the delightful tunes. Also included is a booklet with liner notes from the sound producers.

So yes. This is a thing that is seriously happening. Let us all clap our hands and triumphantly remember the greatness that was the 32X!

+ Muramasa Momohime figure is stunning By dimankali 20 March 2010 at 1:00 am and have No Comments

Muramasa Momohime figure is stunning screenshot

Muramasa: The Demon Blade is an absolutely beautiful game for the Wii. I’ve been in love with the art and visual since the first screenshot was revealed. Sadly, I practically forgot all about the game’s existence. That is until Tomopop posted about this wonderful Momohime figure.

The Muramasa: The Demon Blade figure is scheduled to come out in July. It’ll come with an interchangeable sword and will be going for around $71. You can pre-order Momohime now over on Hobby Search.

Hop on over to sister site Tomopop to get a detailed look at Momohime. Anyone interested in picking this figure up?

+ GameStop hosting Splinter Cell: Conviction events By BrandysmokinG 19 March 2010 at 11:00 pm and have No Comments

GameStop hosting Splinter Cell: Conviction events screenshot

Ubisoft and Microsoft are throwing a party for Splinter Cell: Conviction on April 1 in Los Angeles. The celebration will be taking place at the Les Deux Nightclub in Hollywood where fans and celebrities will be playing through some Splinter Cell co-op sessions. The event goes on from 2:00PM to 6:00PM with a red carpet premiere event taking place at 8:00PM.

Fans will be able to participate in the “Search for Sam Fisher” contest at the red carpet party where one lucky person will score themselves an Xbox 360 Splinter Cell: Conviction special edition bundle.

While all that is going on in Los Angeles, GameSpots in Boston, Orlando, New York City, Denver, Chicago, San Francisco, San Jose, Dallas and New Jersey will be hosting co-op demos as well. People that attend these events will get a chance at winning Conviction, Xbox Live Gold Memberships and more.

And finally, if you pre-order Conviction from GameSpot, you’ll score an exclusive suppressed shotgun shown off in the above video. Neat.

+ Final Fantasy XIII sells over 1 million units in America By vosduholov 19 March 2010 at 10:00 pm and have No Comments

Final Fantasy XIII sells over 1 million units in America screenshot

The team at Square Enix has a lot to celebrate today. Final Fantasy XIII has sold over one million units here in America in the first five days that it’s been out. Final Fantasy XIII has now become the fastest-selling installment in the franchise’s history.

Square didn’t give a breakdown of whether FF XIII sold better on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 so we’ll have to wait for the NPD data next month to get a clear picture on that  …. along with a ton of console fanboy rage. With the release of XIII, the Final Fantasy series has now reached 96 million units sold worldwide since the first game appeared on the original Nintendo.

I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed things about Final Fantasy XIII. Some love it and others are bored with it already. How’s your experience been with Square’s latest offering?

No More Heroes 2 dated for Europe screenshot

Two No More Heroes stories in one day? Awesome!

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is a hit here in America and the Wii game will be making its way to European territories on May 21. A new trailer was released for Desperate Struggle and LiveWii has some screens you can check out too.

We gave No More Heroes 2 a pretty high score as it rightly deserves, f*ck face. Everything about the game is screaming with style and pure badassness.

While we’re on the subject of Suda 51’s baby, hit the break for an interview with the man himself as he discusses his eating and fitness habits.

+ Steam has Aliens vs. Predator for 33% off this weekend By TakoTakoBurito 19 March 2010 at 3:00 pm and have No Comments

Steam has Aliens vs. Predator for 33% off this weekend screenshot

Anyone who passed on Aliens vs. Predatorthere were a number of good reasons to do so, in my opinion — might want to take a second look at Rebellion’s latest. Throughout this weekend, Steam is offering the first-person shooter for $33.49 (regularly $49.99 for the PC version).

At that price, it should be significantly easier to justify. That said, I can easily picture future sales that will drop Aliens vs. Predator to far lower prices. Likewise, it might be better to wait it out, hoping that some of the more broken aspects of the game get patched.

Then again, it’s not very often we get a game about Xenomorphs, Predators, or in this case, both. To quote my old psych professor, “suck it up, cupcake!”
