Back when I had first seen God of War III, Sony had camera crews on hand filming for a God of War documentary. It was later announced that the doc would be included in special editions of the title, which ships this March. I knew that. We knew that.
But what I didn’t know was that Peter Weller would be hosting this thing. Yes, that’s the actor who so skillfully played RoboCop in Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 classic film of the same name (and its 1990 sequel). Apparently, Weller is now a history professor, according to Twitter.
Anyhow, what this means is that if they used footage with shots of me in the frame I can say I was in a documentary with the RoboCop. Awesome.
If you missed it, check out my updated preview of God of War III and its Titan gameplay. I’m kind of excited.

The Fallout 3 t-shirt is nice. The Vault 101 Suit is even better. The Vault Boy head? Possibly the best use of 80 Microsoft points in the history of fake money.
Bethesda is bringing out a line of Fallout-themed avatar wear to the Xbox Live Avatar Marketplace on Thanksgiving day, giving players six new ways to show off their love for Fallout 3 and its creators, Bethesda Game Studios. There’s three t-shirts priced to move at 80 Microsoft points apiece; the standard Vault 101 suit, complete with PipBoy, for 240 points; a Vault Boy suit for 240 points; and the pièce de résistance – a Vault Boy head that covers up your avatar’s goofy cranium.
My advice? Just buy the head, and play Vault Boy dress up. It’s simply the right thing to do.

One of the most important moments in Star Wars history plays out on your iPhone and iPod Touch today, as THQ Wireless releases Star Wars: Trench Run.
Take part in the Battle of Yavin as a member of Rebel Alliance’s Red Squadron, dog fighting with TIE Fighters before aiming for the most poorly-designed exhaust ports in the history of exhaust port design in Star Wars: Trench Run for the iPhone and iPod Touch. While THQ Wireless doesn’t specify which member of the Red Squadron you are, the ability to use Force powers to slow down enemy fighters and increase your agility is a bit of a giveaway, unless of course they’ve secretly revealed that a Red Squadron member other than Luke had the Force that day and just wasn’t telling anyone.
The game features sounds and music from the original films, along with footage to help refresh your memory in case you’d forgotten that bit, and boasts True-Life, accelerator-based flight controls. True-Life space combat physics? I bet that was one expensive research trip.
The game is now available for $4.99 in the App Store. As an added plus, it runs better on the 3GS and 2nd generation iPod Touch, giving owners of those devices something to brag about while the rest of us wait for the upgrade opportunity. Jerks.

Dante’s Inferno is getting flak from a nanny group over an Achievement for killing unbaptized babies — not ironically, it’s named “Bad Nanny.” As GamePolitics points out, the International Nanny Association (INA) released a statement calling the ‘cheevo “offensive to our association,” as it seemingly defies the INA’s goal to “promote and educate the public regarding the selfless work nannies do to support families.”
We here at Joystiq are thoroughly offended too, though mostly because we know that more than one person on staff will be once again be forced into a morally compromising position in the endless hunt for virtual grandeur.

DFC Intelligence analyst David Cole thinks that Nintendo and Sony devices will still lead the handheld market by 2014, but that the iPhone/iPod Touch will drive growth, thanks to a little thing called the App Store. IndustryGamers took note of the new report, where the analyst believes that the worldwide mobile and portable games market will reach $11.7 billion by 2014, which includes the PSP and DS, with Apple’s devices pushing 24 percent of software sales.
The company found that of over 8,000 surveyed respondents, 54 and 69 percent of North Americans and Europeans, respectively, had played a game on their phone in the last year. The report found that the the most popular service for purchasing apps for their phone was Apple’s App Store — shocking, right?

Resonance of Fate was given a North American release window of spring 2010 way back in May, leaving the question of its Japanese release (as End of Eternity) unanswered — until just now. Sega previously launched a cute “count-up” site to reveal the date, which has finally arrived at January 28, 2010*. The official game site now shows this information, as well.
Earlier this month, producer Mitsuhiro ShimanoIn told Joystiq that, with Resonance of Fate development on schedule, Sega had the freedom to set the Japanese release date “when it’s going to be the best time to fully reach the potential.” Apparently, the best time is … a month after Final Fantasy XIII?
*Note: At the time of this posting, our browser still shows that several hours remain, suggesting that the counter is based on one’s local time zone.

You may have scoffed at the prospect of a flash-based, 2D version of BioWare’s upcoming RPG epic, Dragon Age: Origins. “A browser game meant to simulate the deep, immersive emotions that arise when one plays roles,” you may have said, mid-scoff. “Who would play something like that?” As it turns out, if you’re looking forward to the full, three-dimensional version of Dragon Age, the answer to your query is simply: You.
A short Q&A on the Dragon Age: Journeys developers’ blog cultivated an enticing bit of info about the browser adventure: if you play through it while logged into your EA account, you can gain access to three items that will transfer over to your Dragon Age: Origins save file on Xbox 360, PS3 or PC. No details were given about the items in question, but we’re imagining they’ll either be used to help you slay dragons, or to help you become a more profound lover.

If you’re a fighting game enthusiast living in Southern California — or a really big fighting game enthusiast living in Northern California — you might want to check out the Tekken 6 launch party that’s being hosted by a number of local fighting game community sites in Hawthorne, CA. Attendees who shell out for the $10 entry fee will have the chance to play the brawler on comically large screens, win some swag (such as the drool-inducing wireless fightstick bundle) and schmooze with some Namco Bandai developers.
You can be sure that we’ll be in attendance — we’re going with the hopes of being able to shake the hand of the person responsible for the panda-booting screenshot above. That thing has brought so much joy into our lives, and we’d like to personally thank its progenitor.

Although registration has been open since April, it appears that PAX East tickets are now discounted until the end of the year. The day pass currently costs $25, while the three-day pass is $45, which is a $5 savings off the previous pre-purchase price — and a $10 cut off the door prices.
It appears that hotel information is also up on the PAX East site. Although several of those hotels are definitely within tolerable “Boston in late-March walking distance,” the Holiday Inn in Brookline, which appears to be the best value on the list, is a straight shot on the C line to the convention center.

Two arcade cabinets for Nolan Bushnell’s Computer Space, regarded as the first commercially sold video game ever, have been listed on eBay. The games, which predated Pong by about a year, are currently going for $1,500 and $2,500.
Computer Space was developed and published in 1971 by Nutting Associates, not Atari, although programmers Bushnell and Ted Dabney did found Atari later. It’s based on Spacewar!, developed at MIT in 1961, which is itself considered one of the first video games ever.
There’s a green and a yellow version for sale. In addition to its cultural impact, the Computer Space cabinet is itself a funky piece of furniture, and a sure conversation starter for anyone visiting your rec room.
