Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair are now both available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Dragon’s Lair was once a very popular arcade game. It had breakthrough graphics at the time. Joystiq says the iPhone version lets you play the arcade version and a different version that has unseen screens. CNET says movements are controlled by an onscreen d-pad.
Movement is controlled, like Space Ace, with an onscreen d-pad that lights up with the direction you need to choose before triggering a death sequence. There’s also a sword button for fight instances; while the gameplay is basically a reflex-tester, it’s the precursor to instant button-pressing fight moments that made a big comeback in PS2 games like God of War.

If you claim to love Tim Schafer, the new Brütal Legend DLC, “Hammer of Infinite Fate,” is your chance to prove it. When it arrives on Dec. 17, you’ll be able to pay the designer the ultimate tribute and carve his giant, disembodied head into Mount Rockmore. Sure, you’re still a stalker, but in a totally socially acceptable way. You’ll also get the Oculus of the Lost, a Deuce upgrade that shows every collectible on the map, as well as new outfits for Eddie and four new multiplayer maps.
The pack’s apparently going to be a bit cheaper for PlayStation 3 users, who will pay $4.99 compared to 480 MS points ($6) on Xbox 360. That might be a misprint (we’ve asked EA for confirmation), but we recall that PSN users did get the first DLC free for two weeks. Teacher’s pets.

If you’re one of the unlucky Assassin’s Creed 2 players who’ve been wandering around the Hideout for days, with no way to get back into the playground of Ezio’s memories, you’ll be relieved to know that a new freedom patch is on the way. It’ll launch for PS3 today and on December 11 for Xbox 360.
The patch promises to fix the Sequence 11 glitch and many others (the list may contain spoilers for you), including a bug that allows Ezio to walk on air in “extremely rare occasions.” We didn’t know about that one, but now we’re going to miss it.

What a tease: First we read on IGN that one of the the great untapped licenses, Voltron, would finally be made into a video game. But then we learn that it’s not only an iPhone game, but an iPhone game (iTunes link) that’s being ported to other phones. That’s fine, but befitting of Voltron? We say no.
Seriously, Sony, has no one explained Voltron to you well enough to convince you that it needs to be a real game? OK, let us take a swing. It’s a robot made of lions made of robot. When the aliens exterminate us for being a failed species and we ask them what proof they have, exhibit one’s going to be the fact that Voltron isn’t a game and Dante’s Inferno is.

Hello, designers. As you know in fashion, one day you’re in, the next you’re out. Tens of millions of Wii owners have the chance to try their skills at
Project Runway (repeatedly) when the game sashays the catwalk of retail on March 2, 2010. The title includes major staples of the show’s cast, including model Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn, frosty Nina Garcia and “top American fashion designer” Michael Kors. The game sounds like the most warped version of the
Cooking Mama gameplay template yet, as players will have access to an interactive garment studio, fashion career mode, hair and make-up studios, a fashion shoot feature and a Wii Balance Board-compatible catwalk game.
Come to think of it, this game sounds an awful lot like a hybrid of Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model. Seriously, how are we supposed to learn to walk properly on a Wii Balance Board without Ms. J telling us that we’re plodding along like a drunken elephant or a tweaked out drag queen with a case of the twirls. Anyway, good luck, designers. Make it work!

Legendary action film director John Woo hasn’t given up on a movie adaptation of Stranglehold, the game he made with Midway as a sequel to his Hong Kong bullet ballet classic Hard Boiled. In an interview with Cinematical, Woo was quick to note, “We are going to make that into a movie” when the topic of the game came up.
When the topic of making another, different game was broached, Woo — whose latest film, Red Cliff, saw theatrical release Stateside November 22 — said that he doesn’t currently have any plans to, for obvious reasons. “I don’t have that much time, even though I want to make one again,” he said, “But for the moment, I also am producing two movies. One is shooting in Taiwan. One is shooting in Shanghai. So I am quite busy these days.”
John Woo: Stranglehold movie still coming, would like to make another game originally appeared on Joystiq on Tue, 08 Dec 2009 23:00:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

We’re not sure what makes a franchise a good fit for unconventional adaptations, but Silent Hill certainly has it. First it was transformed into a haunted house, now a group of fans in Sweden has put together a stage play based on the second game in the series.
Though the play will be subtitled and put on to YouTube eventually, we don’t have any details about the production just yet. We assume, however, it’ll basically be like Miss Saigon if everyone in Miss Saigon had a pyramid for a head. Sure, the critics will say it’s unorthodox, but they also said Babs was too young to play Dolly Levi and we all saw how that turned out.
