Nero Figure Has A Devil On His Shoulder [Toys] 17 November 2009 at 7:00 am by UlricheDmond

This is Yamato’s Nero figure, from Devil May Cry 4. He is large, he’s so far only slated for a Japanese release, and has a rather childish look of disappointment to him.

Like he asked for an ice cream, and his mother said “no”.

Made by Yamato, you can import it when it’s released in December for just over $100.

+ Six Snowy Scenes From Command & Conquer 4 [Screens] By hollybrooking 16 November 2009 at 12:20 pm and have No Comments

Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the firefight is so delightful, and since the planet’s about to blow, let us show you six new multiplayer screens from Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight.

I apologize wholeheartedly for that intro. I just can’t seem to escape Christmas music these past few days, and I saw no reason why I shouldn’t share my pain. Still, what better way to get into the mood for the holiday season than screenshots for a game that’s not coming out until March? These shots have everything you need to ring in the holiday cheer: bright lights, snow, pine trees, and futuristic vehicles shooting at other futuristic vehicles. Ho ho ho!

+ Odd And Odder Mario Sightings In New York [Gallery] By edgecungupt 15 November 2009 at 3:30 pm and have No Comments

Yesterday, we gave you video of the makeshift Mario Museum Nintendo set up outside of its New York City store, commemorating the launch of New Super Mario Bros. Wii. But that video didn’t quite capture the wild sights nearby.

Click each image to enlarge, captions on the right

I shot this picture inside the Nintendo World Store. It’s a nice first image, right? But I actually wanted to order these with the museum first. It was right outside the store. Take a look…
This was the rear of the museum. Inside were TVs running footage from Mario game commercials, drawings and paintings of Mario, and lots of assorted Mario stuff.
In the museum we have the Mario baking pan…
And some Mario clothes…
and more clothes…
…and more.
We have a Mario Bros. costume, with an inflatable belly.
This is the Luigi costume, along with a sweater even Bill Cosby might not wear.
The stands here displayed Mario lunchboxes, shampoo and other items.
Here’s that Mario lunchbox.
And outside the museum, here I am at what would be the DJ station for the outdoor part of the event.
These pillows weren’t protected from the downpour that arrived minutes after I snapped these photos.
Adjacent to the museum and DJ areas was the Nintendo World Store itself, decked out for the New Super Mario Bros. launch.
A second look at the windows. Shoppers inside could buy the new Wii game early.
Upstairs in the store, people could pose for photographs with these pillows.
People could also play older Mario games.
Various Mario designs marked the walls.
More wall art.
And still more.
Here’s a rare Donkey Kong sighting on Mario day.
The store sells a lot of Nintendo-themed items. I photographed a few Mario-related items, though not all are tied to the new game.
More merchandise.
And still more Mario-themed merchandise.
You could also buy Mario-themed stuffed figures.
More of the stuffed stuff.
And here’s Peach, fittingly captured, yet again!
Spot the non-Mario figure here.
Bowser gets an extreme close-up.
People were dressed as Mario (and Luigi).
Looks just like the real thing?
Mario playing Mario.
That’s more like it. It’s Mario.
My favorite sign in the store.
And one more look at those coins, hanging just a little too high for me to grab from the bottom floor.

+ Metal Gear Rex Figure: Big, Shiny, Enormous [Toys] By Joneweroser 13 November 2009 at 7:00 am and have No Comments

Hong Kong-based toy company threeA will be releasing a Metal Gear Rex figure sometime next year. As you can see from these pics, the detail is incredible. As is the sheer size of the thing.

No idea on an exact release date or price, but don’t expect this to be either widely-available or cheap.

+ New Saboteur Screens – Oh The Humanity! [Screens] By Anacondinya 10 November 2009 at 11:40 am and have No Comments

Is it too soon for referential Hindenburg humor? I can never tell.

It’s another batch of screenshots for Pandemic’s The Saboteur, featuring protagonist Sean Devlin doing things other than wading through the seedy underbelly of World War II’s burlesque scene. Marvel as he blows up a blimp! See him climbing a thing! Behold – he’s totally talking to that one guy!

+ A Visual Tour Of Mytheon’s Hot Spots [Screens] By Gefikefuesy 05 November 2009 at 9:40 am and have No Comments

Petroglyph and True Games have released a set of screenshots detailing the various environments found in the upcoming online action RPG Mytheon. Let’s take a tour of Colchis, The Dominion of Hades, and The Shattered Isle.

Mytheon is an online PC game that combines action RPG gameplay with an element of collectible strategy games. Players take on mythical gods using collectible Power Stones, which transform into creatures, buildings, and spells. Think of it as a collectible card strategy game with the cards replaced with stones, and you get the picture.

Browse the gallery below for background information on some of the game’s scenic locales.

The island features a diverse geography; from craggy, impassable cliffs to rolling meadows and gardens. While Amphitrite resides in the peaceful Nereid’s Garden where the sparkling ponds and fountains reflect the tranquility of the sea, Triton presides over his namesake cove amidst the foam and crashing surf. Within the Temple of Poseidon, the vengeful sea god prepares his minions for the coming battle with mankind.

The Dominion of Hades is the epicenter of Hades’ power in the Underworld. From this dark, luxurious palace, Hades and his queen, Persephone, rule the Underworld without mercy.

Remnants of a city lie just beyond the field’s borders, long abandoned by its inhabitants and now overrun with diabolical beasts. What was once a thriving marketplace, surrounded by the homes of the townspeople, now lies uninhabited.

Gloomy corridors and cavernous halls exude an eerie sense of foreboding to those who would risk entry within. Divided into three great regions – the Hall of the Dead, the Garden of the Furies, and the Court of Hades, Stonecasters must embark deep into this fiery stronghold and face perilous legions of undead monsters in order to confront Hades himself, his power enhanced within his own domain.

The Shattered Isle is home to Poseidon, the supreme ruler of oceans and earthquakes. The isle is also home to Amphitrite, Poseidon’s beloved wife, and their son, Triton. Together, the family forms a triad symbolic of the ocean’s tranquility, treachery, and unrelenting dominion. These qualities are reflected in the domains over which they preside.

Since their victory over the dragon, the sacred grove has become infiltrated with fierce warriors of Ares, the god of war. The dusty furrows of the Fallow Field are dotted with the skeletal remains of dead trees; now home to carrion creatures that prey upon the unwary.

The Dominion of Hades is a monument to death and destruction. Home to the immortal god of earthly wealth – Hades, lord of the dead, rules his realm with an iron fist.

The skeletal remains of past invaders lie half buried in the sands surrounding crumbling columns and scarred boulders. Waterfalls cascade down stone ledges, casting a fine spray that coats the rocky surfaces and foliage.

Players will travel to the distant land of Colchis, once home to the famed Golden Fleece, now protecting Argos. Two distinct regions form the land of Colchis – the cast Fallow Field and the Grove of Ares. Jason and his Argonauts braved many dangers there to claim their prize, including an epic battle against the Colchian Dragon who guarded the fleece.

+ NCAA 10 Showcases the Charm and Bad Calls of Hoops’ Top Home Courts [Screens] By seattyFaula 03 November 2009 at 9:40 pm and have No Comments

NCAA Basketball 10 isn’t just about the announcing teams and pretty graphics, it still faces the tall order of presenting all the arenas of every major conference member. Another 15 screens show us what to expect.

This package delivers Lousiville at Pitt’s Petersen Events Center (Big East); Michigan State at Illinois’ Assembly Hall, one of 47 such-named arenas in the Big 10; Texas at Kansas’s Allen Fieldhouse representing the Big XII; Florida vs. Kentucky in Rupp Arena (SEC); Cal at UCLA’s Pauley Pavilion, because only in the Pac-10 do they play in pavilions; and of course, Wake Forest whistled for a charge against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium, because for no other ACC team is such a call ever made. Larry Rose must be an unlockable classic ref in this game.
